Edward, I just revisited this post after some long discussions with a friend. This discussion came about as I reminded him that during the 70s into 80s I lived in a 1910 house on Rainy st in Austin Tx for 13yrs. Now worth MILLIONS the old man who owned it refused to sell it to me with "women dont own property". An additional resource on this topic is a history book by Urving Wallace, "Nymphos and Other Maniacs. Yep, living on SocSec now and it sucks.

The arise of patriarchal culture at the 4th k bc concords with Mithraism also emerging. This is the root of this patriarchal cults with transvestites and castration in stead of priestesses. The jealous monotheistic god Mars Ares Mitras, HaShem, Ammon, Khnum(!),Adad, Hades, Nergal, Typhon, Seth, scorching flame, dessert barren, representing the intellect, ruled over the coming millennias. St john and the templars are among the surviving Mars cults. Sometimes Mars appear along the Sun, the moon and Prometheus. These cults are luciferian. Symbols are male lion, eagle, gold and iron. And bloood. Lots of bloood.

Why is this blood and lots and blood business so OCD? Vagina Envy of the 'jealous godling' for only Wombman who feeds and births male life, bleeds without wounds - they soon put paid to that by inflicting so many ...... they emulated that through anal sex bleeding, the diversion of natural and spiritual power into perversion. Frued the Fraud reversed the reasoning. There was an AmerIndian whose theory that the cataclysm in the 'desert lands' which were fertile and abundant, produced savagery and rape, the suppression of nature personified in the female. An unrelenting sun without verdant cover or relief, scarcity of useable land or water 'called for' a selfcentric aggressive masculine predominance. Hope I've retained the researcher's details on my computer and that this input was useful.

So El Saturn is the servant of Thera. But he is our shepherd. And the one we know as Christ, a son of Eloi, was really named Adonai Immanuel. I think he was Tyrrhenian/Pelasgian and not Semitic phoenecian.

Btw, pagan just means farmer. From which the first astrologists and priests arose. Ie the Inauguration of the year.

Many early scholars identify El with Saturn. His mother/wife/lover/etc was called Turan in Rasennan. I will just refer to her as Thera.

So El Saturn is the supreme God of everything almost. God of weather, most high in the sky, element ice, Cronos timekeeping, Blacksmith, stonemason, lord of cubes, commanding elves. As the black smith Hephaestus amd Vulkan he is a lepar and rides a donkey. So the Israelites worshiped an Ass because their god was a leper. Thera holds the palm leaves.

The first and greatest temple in Rome was Saturns. And their most important festival. Ptah in Egypt.

Hi Ed!

Have you looked into the Jezebel story? First, her name resembles Cybele. Also her name is Jezreel. I dont know but it sounds a lot like Israel. Also Israel is known to be a woman. I think Baal, is a woman (Cow), and not male. (Stars are female/ planets male, in general). The goddess was also known as The Tower and the spirit in the tower, and in the Rock(s).

Im also intrigued by the Scythians and the Amazons. It looks like the came from Geatulia in N W Africa and made it all the way to Iran and China, where they are known as Gutians and Getae, who are related to Gean Goths and the germanic language and Yiddish.

El and Ashera in Scythian is Papeus amd Arimpassa.

In Sumerian El is Elil.

Tor, Thanks for commenting. I will be diving into the Jezebel for sure. She is important both symbolically and because she was a historical person. I have a whole chapter on her in my book, History of the Goddess.

Shelah, thanks for the thoughtful comments.

You are right about Jewish matrilineality combined with patriarchy, just goes to show nothing is cut and dried when it comes to human cultures and it is hard to generalize (especially in under 1500 words!) I am going to dig into this specific issue more when I talk about Abraham and Sarah. Jewish matrilineality is certainly a vestige of old matriarchal cultures. In Islam, they trace their line patrilineally back to Ishmael, Abraham's older son by the slave Hagar, and claim to have the true inheritance of Abraham.

I don't know much about the Norse, but there are a bunch of examples of women warrior cultures. The Scythians are my favorites, the nomadic horse lords from the Eurasian steppe where they trained girls to ride and fight from a young age. A woman with a bow and arrow on horseback is just as deadly as a man. The Scythians are the Amazons of Greek myth and were one of the last great matriarchal cultures. They worshipped the mother goddess and apparently were ruled by queens, though they did not leave behind writings and it can be tricky to separate fact from legend.

I make no claims to arguing universal truths that are applicable everywhere. I do believe that the technology revolution of bronze did transform society but it is not the focus of my work and I won't be dwelling on it as I go forward. I am just trying to establish a timeline.

The notion of a technology revolution is relevant today because the Industrial Revolution also revamped the social order and set the stage for women to begin getting their rights back.
