The resurgence of tribal and religious ideologies could partly be a reaction to the perceived failure of secular ideologies to address existential and identity-related concerns. The shift may not just be about the ideologies themselves but also about the unmet psychological and emotional needs of the societies embracing them. Thank you, great post.
Do you feel this millennia long war is rooted in the battle of monotheism over polytheism? or the fight of the father god vs the mother goddess (as you mentioned)? So many other places in the world managed to end long lasting war. But this region where most of the conquest of old gods vs new gods, idols vs idols took place - seems like there are so many layers of ancient revenge. Maybe this is why it came back to be a religious war, because destroying each other temples back then is a deeply rooted pain that just evolved over the years into the 3 big religions, but is actually that old wound
I believe that global civilization is transiting from the Iron Age to the Space Age, and these old Iron Age ideologies need to play out their eschatological narratives to their logical conclusion, then new Space Age ideologies will take their place. In my mind, the wars in the Middle East today are a direct continuation of centuries and millennia of warfare and conflict in that region, a seemingly endless cycle of violence. Only a new ideology can reset the table.
